About Upskill TB

Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) remains one of the gravest challenges in global health. Each year, over a million people in Indonesia alone fall ill with tuberculosis, and more than 125,000 lives are lost. Globally, the situation is equally alarming. Despite scientific breakthroughs that have brought shorter, more effective regimens like BPaL/M, the reality on the ground tells a different story: implementation remains uneven. Healthcare providers across the world have expressed a pressing need, not just for access to new medicines, but for the skills, confidence, and support to use them effectively in their own clinical settings. This is the gap where Upskill TB steps in.

What is Upskill TB?

Upskill TB is an online learning platform that was created with a clear vision: to build a world where every healthcare provider, regardless of where they live or work, can access free, equitable, and continuous learning that strengthens their capacity to care for patients with DR-TB. Guided by this vision, our mission is to deliver high-quality, multilingual education on the latest TB regimens, to equip healthcare workers with both confidence and competence, and to foster a global community of practice where experts, practitioners, and TB programs can learn from one another. By creating scalable and standardized training, Upskill TB contributes not only to individual knowledge but also to stronger health systems worldwide.

At its core, Upskill TB is designed to transform the way knowledge on DR-TB is shared. Developed by the Respiratory Programmatic Implementation and Research Institute (RPRI) in collaboration with TB Alliance, leading experts and global partners, the platform goes beyond static guidelines and one-off workshops. It combines expert-led video lectures with interactive case studies, quizzes, and discussion forums, allowing learners to not only absorb information but also apply it in real-world clinical contexts. With multilingual access, the platform ensures that no learner is left behind.
